Often, a macOS update will fix the problem so you might only have to wait for one to be available and it can fix a lot that’s wrong with your system. Spotlight is a useful Mac app for launching apps, finding files and other stuff on your computer, and a whole bunch of other nifty little things. Rarely do users have to resort to anything drastic such as resetting a Mac completely. It does fail to index files sometimes and is unable to find anything, or it might not learn which apps to show you as the top hit. Spotlight is not immune to problems even though it is one of the better search features you will find on a desktop operating system.
